FAQs

Are you a registered dog treat business?

Yes! Paws and Moonlight Barkery is a legally registered small business.

Have your dog treat recipes undergone lab testing?

Yes! All of our dog treat recipes have undergone the required lab testing and analysis to determine the proximate amounts of protein, fats, fiber, and moisture of our treats.

What ingredients do you use to make dog treats?

Our treats are made with natural ingredients. Depending on the treat and recipe, we may utilize any of the following: pumpkin, sweet potatoes, apples, carrots, blueberries, strawberries, beets, or bananas. Some of our treats may also contain the following ingredients: pure honey, mint leaves, molasses, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, oregano, or parsley. For our dog cookies, we typically use oatmeal flour. For our pupcakes, donuts, and woofles we utilize whole wheat flour.

How do you bake your dog treats?

We bake our dog treats in small batches according to recipe instructions. After baking, we then dehydrate our treats to help extend their shelf life.

Why do you dehydrate your treats?

Dehydration removes some of the extra moisture in dog treats. Moisture causes mold. By removing excess moisture, we are able to extend the shelf life of our treats.

Are your dog treats hard?

Depending on the treat, they can be either crunchy, extra crunchy, or chewy. A package label will help identify if the treat is crunchy, extra crunchy, or chewy.

Some of your dog cookies are iced/frosted. Is that safe for dogs?

Yes! We use frosting and icing that is especially formulated for dogs.

Ingredients in the puppy icing include: Non-Fat Milk Solids, Yogurt Powder, Egg Whites, Granulated Rice, and Tapioca Starch.

Do you have a stock pile of dog treats?

We maintain a stock pile of dehydrated jerky, chicken feet, chicken liver chips, and sweet potato chews. We do monthly restocks to ensure freshness. Please check our Monthly Menu to see which items and flavors are offered during the month. Please note that while we maintain a stock pile, many of our treats sell out. In the event a treat is not in stock, we will need production time to bake, dehydrate, ice/frost, and package.

What if I want to purchase a treat that is not on the Monthly Menu?

The majority of our treats are made to order. These include cookies, biscuits, pupcakes and other cookies/treats. If treats are not in stock, please allow 2-3 days for baking and/or dehydrating, and packaging treats prior to shipping or pick up. Large orders may require an additional preparation day.

What are Dog Treat Cookie Boxes?

Our Dog Treat Cookie Boxes are curated on a monthly basis. The Paws and Moonlight team comes together to brainstorm and create cookies and/or special treats that match the season, holiday, or time of year. The cookie boxes can be ordered on our website. A limited amount of boxes will be curated and set for sale each month.

We also offer Made to Order themed Dog Treat Cookie Boxes for Special Occasions. These include: Barkdays, Gotcha Days, Get Well Soon, Puppy Grad, Pawty Time, etc. Please allow 3-4 days for baking, decorating, and packaging themed Dog Treat Boxes prior to shipping or pick up.
